Local 542 does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. The Civil Rights Committee was established to monitor the locals commitment to establishing a membership that reflects the diversity of the population of Eastern Pa. and Delaware. Business Manager Jim Reilley believes men and women of all races have the right to the benefits of Union membership.
Quality of life issues, such as good jobs with good wages and health care, pension, job safety are common concerns for all working families.
Jim Reilley and the Civil Rights Committee are committed to ensuring all minorities have fair and equal access to employment and the Local 542 Apprenticeship program. The Committee monitors the graduation rate of apprentices and collects statistical information regarding apprentices who go on to become journey level Operating Engineers.
Jim Reilley and the Civil Rights Committee believe by bringing new perspectives and talent into the Union, Local 542 will become a stronger Union.
